As California is experiencing catastrophic impacts from climate change, including deadly wildfires and record setting heatwaves, the state is looking to amplify its efforts to address the impacts and quicken the pace of climate initiatives to prevent future climate disasters. California’s Cap-and-Trade Program has been one tool the state is using to meet its emissions reduction goals, and as of May 2020, the program has provided $6.278 billion that has been invested in projects under California Climate Investments. But with lower auction revenues driven by the pandemic, some are questioning how the program should change to ensure its continued effectiveness in the near term. California has several other initiatives under various state agencies and new executive orders that are working towards reducing emissions, protecting the environment and strengthening communities. In this webinar, speakers will discuss the importance of the state’s different climate tools and how their impacts can be amplified when time is of the essence.
