The Reserve has released the draft Mexico Forest Protocol Version 2.0 for public review and comment. The protocol provides revised guidance for monitoring, reporting, and verifying forest sequestration projects in Mexico. Revisions include expanding eligible project activities and updating additionality requirements based on project activity, modifying the secondary effects calculation for improved forest management activities, incorporating a new monitoring and quantification methodology for small urban forest, agroforestry, and silvopastoral activities, and clarifying verification requirements, among other revisions. A summary of changes detailing the revisions from Version 1.5 to 2.0 of the protocol is available on the Mexico Forest Protocol revision webpage.
Comments are due by 6:00 pm PT on December 13, 2019 and may be submitted in Word or PDF format to policy@climateactionreserve.org.
